Allopharm We are a biopharmaceutical company established in 2004 in order to discover synthetic and naturally occurring peptides related to insect immunity and to develop innovative antiviral, antibacterial and antitumoral pharmaceuticals and skin care products. Discovery of a new type of insect cytokine-like peptides specifically activating innate antiviral and antitumoral immunity in mammals (Chernysh et al., Antiviral and antitumoral peptides from insects, PNAS, 2002, 99: 12628-32) was one of the milestones in the company prehistory. One of the peptides, alloferon, is registered now as antiviral drug in Russia and successfully used in the therapy of genital herpes and hepatitis B. Nowadays the company has rich portfolio of active compounds originating from the immune system of various insect species and potentially useful as drug candidates.
